The B.Ed course of Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, Ahmedabad aims to develop the skills and competencies required by in-service teachers at the primary and secondary school levels for effective teaching-learning process. The curriculum presented provides opportunities for teachers to share their experiences. Inservice in schools encourages teachers to select and plan their learning experiences according to students' needs. Furthermore, they grow in their knowledge and develop a sound understanding of areas such as educational assessment and school management.
Course Objectives
In-service teachers will be able to achieve the following objectives through this course.
1) Assessing experiences and developing professional skills among in-service teachers.
2) To organize different educational methods and learning experiences of secondary school students Develop knowledge and understanding of approaches.
3) To develop skills in selecting and integrating learning experiences.
4) Understanding the nature of the learning process.
5) To develop the academic and personal problem solving skills of the teachers.
6) To develop knowledge and understanding of various assessment processes and procedures as well as their use in the classroom.
7) To develop skills in selection, construction and use of assessment tools (instruments).
8) To develop understanding of various aspects of school management.
9) To develop capacities in organizing various types of teaching and support services.
10) To develop an appreciation of the role of education in the prevailing socio-cultural as well as political systems in general and in the educational system in particular.
Structure of the course
Theoretical and practical courses are included in the entire course of B.Ed. Examples and relevant presented situations are included in each topic of the course. This matter is necessarily supported by theoretical aspects as well. Keeping this in mind the syllabus has been divided into five groups.
